While we're embarrassing Rich...

Rich was such a sport on our long trip to Las Vegas and Phoenix.  

In addition to cooking for us (YUM!!!!)...

... he also entertained the kids all the way from Vegas to Phoenix (that's 5 hours, for anyone who think that's a small feat)....

...slept on the couch, but then didn't mind when kids jumped on him and stole his pillows in the early morning hours...

...cooked steak that had the dogs howling and the adults drooling...

...and jumped off the playground again and again so we could take pictures in front of a PALM TREE!

I found this cute note in my journal.

I'm not sure what I like better: the way he spelled his name, or the fact that he missed me solely for my driving prowess!

Naughty list

Let me tell you why this picture is funny. Each night we read with Amy from the simplified scripture books with pictures. Every time we read a story, Amy is very interested in pointing out who is naughty and who is good--especially who is naughty. Usually the naughty ones are obvious with scowls or weapons, but sometimes she gets confused. Two nights ago she pointed to a picture of Christ on the cross and said, "He berry berry naughty." The funniest part is how emphatically she tells us who's naughty. We can't even get through the story without her skipping ahead to point out all the naughty ones. Her tone of voice is classic: "He BERRY BERRY BERRY NAUGHTY" (usually an emphasis and almost a growl on the 3rd berry).

Last week one of our home teachers came over to visit. He has quite a beard growing. Amy leaned over to me and said, "She very naughty." Hasn't quite got the personal pronouns right either, but it sure is funny.
