We miss the Woodburys

For the record, we miss Adam too. It seems we also missed him whenever we had the camera out.

Ruby red meat

Beware. This post contains pictures that may not be appropriate for the faint of heart. I mean, the faint of stomach (including, but not limited to, nauseous pregnant women).

Becca and Jordan and Mark and the girls and I took Rich out to redeem his birthday gift certificate to Ruby River Steakhouse last week.

Several Wilson siblings chipped in to give Rich a hefty gift card, back in May, hoping he'd take a date to redeem it. But after hearing about his last steak meal on a date, we realized he wasn't going to make any progress in wooing women if they got a peek of how he likes his meat. How does he like his meat? As my dad would say, still quivering.

While Rich was feasting on his raw meat, Sage enjoyed the appetizer bread that came with a knife stuck in it.

Becca and Jordan entertained Eliza, and taught her how to dip fries. (Then Jordan walked her all around the restaurant later when she decided that sitting still in a restaurant booth is for babies and adults, but not independent two year olds.)

And here is Eliza chugging our $3.50 milkshake. This is what you call a waste of money. (Put a pile of whipped cream like that on a rock, and she'd go for it with equal enthusiasm.)

Happy birthday Rich. We should do it again...when our stomachs finally settle down.

Lots of rain and a leaky ark

With Mom and Dad off living the international life, we knew something was bound to happen. And when I say happen, I mean break. It was really only a matter of time.

It only took 2 weeks, and the first big rain this summer gave Krista and Bryce and the poor rain gutters a run for their money and umbrellas. This picture shows the rain pouring down into the crack between the addition and the old house. Imagine water everywhere two stories below.

We owe Danielle for spotting the flooding at 10:30pm on Sunday night, and Bryce and Adam who worked past midnight rigging up tarps to divert the water. And many thanks heavenward that the water that leaked down the chandelier above the stairs all night didn't electrocute anyone. And, of course, thanks for the moisture. I guess we prayed ourselves into this one.

(And thanks to Jordan for fixing all the rentals' problems. And thanks to me for living in Salt Lake and writing blogs about the work everyone else is doing to maintain Mom and Dad's assets while they take a little sabbatical and while Heather studies finer art forms!)
