It's a girl!

Today, at 3:25am, after a VERY short labor (around an hour) and no epidural, Danielle gave birth to a beautiful baby GIRL!!! named Cindy Rose Woodbury. (6 pounds, 6 ounces; 20 inches).

Cindy and her mom are doing great and are still in the hospital. Jacob is doing great, being passed around his aunts and uncles and spoiled rotten. He loves to say "Cindy"and will probably get to meet her this evening. I have the feeling her pink little bow won't stay put for long.

Happy birthday, Cindy! December 28, 2007

We're So Cool.

For Thanksgiving, we went on a trip to Las Vegas. We (Heather and Suz) decided to have some fun with the camera (sometimes to stave off boredom, other times to stay innocent and not be scarred for life by walking down the Las Vegas strip, other times still for pure entertainment).

Ah the beauty of going digital.

Who are these hotties?

"Why is this bathroom nicer than my bedroom?"

Our knight in shining armor found the three of us gorgeous girls. He wasn't too wild about Rich, though.

In fact, he got kind of angry...guess he saw Rich as competition.
(Rich was sitting for this awkward position for like ten minutes in the lobby while Mom tried to get the camera to work. The look of pain on Richie's face is not only from the sword...)

At Hoover Dam, we spent most of our time teaching Jacob how to say "dam" so our crazy pictures were kept to a minimum.
(Actually, it was mostly Rich behind the new vocab, much to Mom's disapproval.)

Check out that profile. What a looker.

Guess she didn't get enough dates... See ya.

What, she's not gone? Whatever. Don't ask questions. Hope Squad was there for her.

On the other hand, at the M&M factory there was nothing holding us back!

are we sistahs or whut?

Get us out of this museum! Rides, anyone?

(I don't know about you, but I'VE never seen a pair of more attractive hitchhikers.)

Heather found a car after not too long, though! Suave is her middle name...
Boys, she'll be 16 in May!!!

She's already 16...

...although we're not sure about maturity level yet!

It's past midnight, and we've run out of clever things to say for captions. We're hot.

Heather: 820-4032
(I dare you to call this)

Suz: 1-800-HOT-MAMA

Okay, we can be normal ... sometimes ... if we try really hard...

(Lest you be scarred for life, the real synopsis of our trip, complete with normal pictures, will be posted in the next couple of days--so don't go away! We'll be right back after these messages...)

Let them eat pie

Mark and I got to eat two traditional Thanksgiving dinners: one with the Wilsons and one with the Wasatch front Williams families. The main difference between the two dinners can be summed up in the picture below. Welcome to Wilson pie heaven. Grandma Wilson is surely beaming down on us.

Pies (front to back): cherry, deep dish blackberry, pumpkin custard, chocolate mud pie, Dutch apple, pumpkin, Aunt Nancy's chocolate, and frozen yogurt pie!

Kim sent me this appropriate poem by Shel Silverstein:

Pie Problem

If I eat one more piece of pie, I'll die!
If I can't have one more piece of pie, I'll die!
So, since it's all decided, I must die,
I might as well have one more piece of pie.
MMMM--OOOH--MY!
Chomp--Gulp--'Bye.

Look at Eliza plotting to snag a piece or two

Suzy and Ryan: the chefs of the chocolate mud ice cream pie

Kim: the chef of death by chocolate (aka Aunt Nancy's chocolate pie that needs whipping cream to dilute it)

Bryce: the chef and chief consumer (plus Dad's help) of the cherry pie

My idea for next Thanksgiving is to substitute Kraft macaroni and cheese for the turkey dinner, so we can devote all our time and appetite to pies.
Thanks to all the pie and custard chefs: Bryce, Kim, Suzy/Ryan, Danielle, Mom, Heather, Becca/Jordan

Halloween Party

Krista and Bryce put on the first Wilson Halloween party, and it was great!
(This is their trunk-or-treat station from earlier that night.)

Becca and Jordan hosted the party, and the decor (including the Dora pumpkin, strobe light scooter, spider webs, and Pirates soundtrack) were perfect. (Richard's pumpkin carving was not so successful.)

The first game: Doughnuts on a string.

The next game: dig for gummy body parts in pudding without hands.

The food was great.

Kim made some delicious DARK chocolate spooky cupcakes.

Mom, Granny Heather and Rich were finally able to drag Dad away from his post at the hidden microphone on the porch at their house, and then the party really got started.

(Bryce even showed up the next day to help Sage put together her prize from the night before: a glow-in-the-dark puzzle. What a great uncle!)

Thanks for a fun time, Krista and Bryce, Becca and Jordan, and everyone who came.

Happy Birthday, Suzy

Cedar Breaks Nat'l Monument

Many thanks to the Woodburys for letting us stay in their home in Paragonah (Southern Utah) last week. We had a great time. Here are a few pics from Cedar Breaks National Monument.

Goodbye Peaches

Goodbye, peaches. It was a GREAT season.

You fed many hungry tummies.

Next August feels like a long time away.

Thanks for all your work, Grandpa
