Boom, baby

I just spent 83 minutes on the phone, and got our "delightful" cell phone company to whittle away a $423 bill down to $145. They finally acknowledged that three charges were "unsubstantiated" and "invalid." That's right. Don't mess with me, Sprint.

Heather's New Roomate

Ever since Heather moved into a bedroom by herself, she's been a little lonely.

Lonely enough that she decided to recruit a new roomate!

Not only that, but she even decided to share her bed with him. He was still snuggling under the covers when she left for school at 8:15 this morning.

Unfortunately the rendezvous was not to last. Our little visitor couldn't withstand Mom's wicked broomstick skills. Dad made sure everyone knew of her prowess, though.

In the meantime, Heather will now be taking applications for new roomates. Preferrably ones with a little less fur.

(P.S. Mom and Dad require me to add that we are doing construction on the house and that's why the mouse got in-- lest any of you think we normally entertain such unusual houseguests. I have my own opinions on that subject, but since Mom and Dad will be reading this post, they will remain unwritten. You can ask me in person if you're really curious to know.) :)

Bigger or better

If Jordan ever gets tired of Construction Management, maybe he can set up a business where he helps people (particularly college FHE groups) win the "Bigger or Better" game. You know, the game where someone shows up on your doorstep and asks if you have something bigger or better that you'd like to trade for whatever they have.

Last month an unsuspecting group showed up at Jordan's door with an Eddie Bauer stroller and asked if he had anything bigger or better. I imagine he broke into a big smile when he said "Follow me back to this garage..." He pulled out one of Dad's old washers(!) and asked if they considered it better, or just bigger. I guess they took the bait, because they also offered to throw in an old bike, as long as Jordan had access to some bolt cutters (since it was locked).

Jordan produced the bolt cutters, just to discover that tucked beneath a rusty chain and duct-taped handle bars was a very nice bike.

And a few days later, Jordan noticed the washer waiting on the corner of the street for the garbage man. He wheeled it back to Dad's garage.

Talk about bigger and better. And smarter. I guess it pays to have a bolt cutter and the key to Dad's garage.

Kim's next project

If anyone needs a prom or bridesmaid dress, just let Kim know a little in advance. I think she'll be able to pump out one of these for the occasion with just a little more practice.

Soon to be homeowners...

Here are some pictures of our house! Jacob loved it and cried when I told him we couldn't go back to "our brand new white house" that day because it wasn't ours yet.

He was all over the place: climbing in cupboards, turning on the spigot outside, and climbing in the dryer and closing its door (and we weren't even playing flashlight tag).

It took about five seconds in the house for him to be leaping on these things by the stairs. I have no idea how we are going to make that safe.

If anyone is interested in more gory details, I have like a billion pictures. It's 1435 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bathrooms, 2 car garage, laundry room, and actually has grass! I know I'm going to be loving the enclosed backyard (although Jacob and Cindy already started throwing the rocks out of the flowerbed). So far we have really felt like this is the right place for us. Thanks everyone for your prayers. We are so excited to have everyone come visit us here! (Park, library, and community center are all only a few blocks away, and there are a bunch of nice jogging trails too.)
