Picture journal
Since Mom seems to be a little behind on the family picture journals, I thought I might as well do the slap-together-digital-job...with lamer commentary. Sorry.
The Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House
(Wow, it's not raining)

(Don't look at Sage and Eliza)
BYU MOA's exhibit (the back exhibit is made of PVC pipes)
Too bad we went on Kiddie-Central-Crazy-Day...who wants to wait in a 30-minute line for face painting? The answer is Sage. She was overruled 6:1.
Let's not talk about my height in this picture. Let's just say it was hard to haul two kids up in the air, not to mention my own body weight.

This mural was made entirely out of packets of duck sauce (think ketchup packets).
Not pictured: the ice cream that was consumed after our day at the MOA. Thanks, Mom.
Also not pictured: Rich coming back from Florida. We're glad Uncle Richie's home.
Also not pictured: Mom, Heather and Dad gave great talks today in church.
Also not pictured: A moving van headed to Arizona. We're missing Amy and her parents already.

Welcome back, Kim
After waiting 6 long months for the return of Auntie Kim you would have thought we would have learned enough patience to not be antsy while her flight circled the airport and then circled again due to weather. Finally she arrived (just as we were starting to get hungry for her sign of Dove chocolates). And there was much rejoicing.

Thank goodness for disability awareness in the SLC airport and Grandpa's entertaining skills.
Kim dove right into her Auntie-hood duties, as expected. Here she is after masterfully getting Eliza to nap (please share your secrets!).
We're glad you're back, Kim. Now about that babysitting you said you had been missing...

Play ball
Yesterday Krista and Bryce arranged babysitting (thanks, Mom) and took me to the park to hit some softballs with them. When Krista instructed me to play catcher, I was shocked as how weird it felt to wear a glove, and how nervous I was of the incoming balls (that's not a comment on your pitching, Krista). Luckily for me, Bryce hit every one of them practically out of the park. Easy job to be a catcher for him.
As I was jogging about a half mile to go find a ball that Bryce pummeled, it occurred to me that I haven't played softball (or even worn a glove) for about 13 years! So naturally I was nervous to hold the Nielsens' sweet bat and have a go at Bryce's fireballs. What I mean is, I literally had to ask Bryce and Krista to not laugh, because I was pretty sure I wasn't going to connect ball with bat very often. But you know what? I actually did. And they didn't laugh (even when they could have). And when I really slammed a few of the balls, and they rolled past the pitcher's mound, I was so proud that I kept repeating "I can't believe I hit that!"
And I felt like Bob.
"I sail!
I'm a sailor! I sail!
On a boat on the lake.
Very far away from the dock.
Into the wind, with the sky and everything."
--"What About Bob?"
Thanks, Krista and Bryce for having faith in me. And for stifling your laughs. And for going back for my cell phone. Do you have to move away, now that I've discovered my new talent?

(The last time I played "ball," I think.)
